SCVNGR Partners With Reebok For New RealFlex Shoe Promotion

The location-based game SCVNGR has joined forces with Reebok to promote the brand’s new RealFlex shoes. According to ClickZ, the campaign marks Reebok’s first entrance into the location-based marketing space. SCVNGR users who check-in at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and complete challenges can earn a coupon for $10 off a pair of RealFlex shoes.

Here’s how to win your coupon. Check-in at a Dick’s Sporting Goods Store with SCVNGR and start participating in challenges. Challenges include taking pictures of various Reebok products and uploading them to SCVNGR. Once you earn 30 points, you’ll receive your $10 off coupon, which can be used at 220 participating Dick’s Sporting Goods Store locations. A SCVNGR spokesman confirmed that scoring enough points to achieve a coupon can take up to a “few” visits to the store. Gamers will also be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win one of the 50 RealFlex shoes Reebok is giving away, as well as other Reebok gear.

It’s not surprising that Reebok chose SCVNGR for it’s first geo-social promotion. SCVNGR has shown a lot of growth in the past year, including surpassing 1 million users in February. The game’s marketing potential hasn’t been limited to just store and product promotions, SCVNGR has ventured into entertainment promotions, as well, most recently promoting the children’s movie “Hop.”

With more brands jumping on the SCVNGR band wagon, it’ll be interesting to see how big SCVNGR will be by the end of the year and which direction it will take location-based marketing. However, SCVNGR still has a long way to go if it wants to compete with Foursquare in the location-based partnership space.
