LinkedIn Launches An Engineering Blog

If you are interested in how LinkedIn operates behind the scenes, the social network has announced the launch of its Engineering Blog. Through the blog, you will be able to take an insider look at the people, data, projects, hackdays, technology, events and projects that are behind LinkedIn.

You will be able to read about how some of LinkedIn’s employees joined the company; how LinkedIn has grown the site so that it is capable of serving more than 100 million members; and the data and algorithms that power products such as the People You May Know feature.

LinkedIn’s engineers will share some of the code that is used on the social network, and you will be able to view some of the products that have won the company’s hackday events. The blog will also feature details about events such as LinkedIn Tech Talks and meetups that people such as developers may be interested in.

This is a really cool, smart way to make LinkedIn more open and accessible. After all, the social network is all about creating professional connections, so you should be able to feel closer to the people that are responsible for LinkedIn.

The social network is fresh off a blockbuster IPO and has been launching new features on a regular basis. As well as features that have come from hackdays such as the Timeline Connection and Tetris-style game “DropIn,” LinkedIn has rolled out a social news service (LinkedIn Today), a graduate job search and could be set to roll out social ads.
