Mahjong Saga Rolls Out To Facebook, Makes Puzzle Games Social

King.com rolled out a brand new Facebook version of the popular Mahjong game called “Mahjong Saga.” The game is a traditional puzzle game infused with the same kind of incentives as an RPG. You’re on a quest and you have specific levels to beat before you can move on. The game gets increasingly challenging as you progress which makes it more than just the average Facebook game — it’s something you’ll keep coming back to until you’ve won.

The game’s premise is that you’re following the lead of a Sensei Panda who takes you to different islands which have different types of puzzles. There’s a counter that’s slowly counting down — you have about 25 minutes to progress or you’ll lose a life. There are 100 different levels and some of the puzzles are really difficult. Racing against the clock to complete them adds an element of excitement that I feel is necessary to online gameplay.

The game is social, too. You can invite your friends to play with you or Like it so it shows up on your Wall. Once your friends jump on board, you immediately begin to compete against each other. There is a leaderboard that displays before each level and shows you which of your friends are winning.

It should be mentioned that the game’s design makes it stand out amongst other Facebook games that often have cluttered game boards. It’s clean and bright, making the puzzles enjoyable to look at and the rules and controls of the game obvious. You won’t be struggling to figure out which parts of the puzzle are actually clickable and you won’t have to read the rules multiple times to understand, which is something that I can’t stand when I’m playing a new game. Games should be challenging to play but easy to understand and Mahjong Saga is just that.

To give Mahjong Saga a try, head over to their Facebook Page.

I am having a problem understanding a couple of the actions- and can’t find the directions or explanations of the game…any pointers?  Have searched all ways I can figure!

I too like the game.  Its been pretty fun but I am unable to find more directions and info about the bombs.  Then if you buy coins you are going to find a big difference NOT in your favor, like shortened games and dead ends.  So I do not recommend that you purchase any of them, because I never will again

I’ve given up on this game. I can’t get past the levels with the bombs. They are never available for me to click on them.  Too frustrating.

    • Ella says:

I agree Gypsy – very silly to put bombs in impossible places. I’ve been stuck on the same game for ages and it is losing its appeal fast

I agree! I appreciate your post of two weeks ago.  Obviously the developers aren’t reading any of these comments.

I can’t unlock the next area… How can I finish the bridge to the next island without getting three friends to help me? Buy instant access? How do I do that? I don’t get it :(

    • Ella says:

? for me, as soon as I finish every spot on an island, the next one becomes available.

      • anne says:

So far the same here, Ella, but there is an island a bridge is needed to be built before getting access to it. I don’t know how what island you’ve reached?

You have to get three friends to get the bridge built.  Unless they do that for you, you cannot get over the bridge.

How do you get past the bombs?

    • Dpynten says:

When you go to play an area you have a choice to buy a device to activate the bombs. You use saga coins that you already have.

  6. Jgraham3 says:

Please help me with where the rules are!  I can’t get passed the bombs!

    • Hazelmreed says:

I am just the same. Where are the instructions? I don’t understand it at all whether it has to be done in limited time or is it certain tiles you have to clear.
