Zaarly Security Issue Exposes User’s Information
Zaarly, the service that lets you buy and sell goods and services from local community members, has recently run into a security issue. Rest assured, they’ve since fixed the problem.
On Monday, a Zaarly community member discovered a potential security flaw which could expose user information. For a service that handles credit card information, security is of the utmost importance, so a flaw in their security system could be extremely damaging. Thankfully, this issue was minor.
Zaarly keeps all user contact information on a separate server from financial information. This way, if one server is breached, only some information can be acquired. In this case, Zaarly believes that if any private information was exposed, it was only telephone numbers and even that was minimal. According to Zaarly CEO Bo Fishback, no credit card information was acquired by any outside sources before the security issue was fixed.
Zaarly believes in having a transparent company which is why they inform users when issues like this arise. The company recently celebrated $1 million in transactions.
