StumbleUpon Adds ‘Explore Box’ Feature, Discover Cool Stuff Based On Specific Interests

StumbleUpon has rolled out a new feature that lets you discover cool content on the Web related to your specific interests. Previously, you were only able to stumble through content on the Web related to more than 500 broad categories but the new Explore Box lets you stumble through just about any topic you can think of.

For instance, rather than stumbling through the rather broad “Animation” category, you might like to explore content related to something like “The Simpsons” or “Family Guy” instead. The Explore Box lets you do just that.

The aim of the Explore Box is to help you find out unexpected information about a topic in which you have a particular interest. Whether you are interested in “Roadside Attractions,” “Indie Music Record Labels,” “Brad Pitt,” “Tattoo Artists” or any other topic, no matter how broad or niche, chances are that you will be able to explore that topic using the new feature.

This new feature brings a new level of social discovery to StumbleUpon, which added audience tools for publishers in June and closed a $17 million funding round in March.

The Explore box is available on the StumbleUpon website and through the company’s Web browser toolbar.
