Vimeo Rolls Out Couch Mode Update, Now Available On iPad And Android Tablets
Vimeo has rolled out several new updates for its Couch Mode feature. Couch Mode is a version of Vimeo that is designed to be displayed on big screens and can be operated simply by using a keyboard.
Now, in addition to being able to use Couch Mode on your TV, you can use it on your iPad or Android tablet. It is also available on all Web browsers — it was previously limited to Safari and Chrome — and can play any Vimeo video.
A global search box lets you search through Vimeo’s entire site and all you have to do is start typing. More navigation options are available that let you browse through users, albums, channels and groups.
Lastly, Couch Mode is now context-aware. The means that every channel, group and video page now has a Couch Mode button that lets you carry over the collection of videos from that page to Couch Mode. So, if you want to watch videos from a specific channel in Couch Mode, simply hit the Couch Mode button on that channel and all the videos that appear on the bottom of the screen will be from that channel. In addition, you can copy and paste URLs from Couch Mode so that when you share a video with your friends, it will open in full screen.
Vimeo launched an iPhone app earlier this year that lets you view and edit videos. It is good to see that the company is making its video-sharing service more accessible by enabling Couch Mode for tablet devices.
You can check out Couch Mode for yourself now.
