Fast food managers must be sick of people playing pranks at the drive-thru window. At the same time, it’s such an easy target which is probably why there are so many coning videos on YouTube.

If you’re not familiar, coning is when you order an ice cream from a drive-thru window and grab the actual ice cream instead of the cone when it’s handed to you. For some reason, most fast food joints haven’t really discovered an efficient way to hand out multiple cones except for giving them to the customer one by one. This is probably how coning came about, but it also doesn’t help that Justin Bieber popularized the practice after he played the prank and put it on YouTube.

While most managers are ambivalent about coning (the person did pay for the ice cream anyway) this YouTube video shows one manager who is just not having it. In the video, a young woman drives up to a McDonald’s drive-thru window with her friend in an attempt to carry out the prank and make a funny viral video. She orders 2 ice cream cones, and when she hands over her cash and attempts to grab the cone by the ice cream, the manager pulls it away and says, “I don’t know what you think you’re doing.” He then threatens to mush the cone in the girl’s face if she tries to grab it from the ice cream and gives her the option of taking it by the cone or he’s going to throw it away. The girl does take the ice cream by the cone but not before acting totally offended. Basically, her prank backfired — big time!

Personally, I don’t really think coning is funny, but the girl paid for her ice cream, so if she wants to waste her money and ruin her cone, it’s pretty much up to her. There wasn’t a reason for the manager to get all bent out of shape, but since he did, the girl got exactly what she wanted — a pretty funny YouTube video that’s on its way to viral status. It’s already been viewed 174,201 times at the time of this writing.
