Neiman Marcus Launches Scavenger Hunt On Foursquare, Win A Designer Handbag

If there are any 2 things that make a social media savvy girl’s heart flutter, it’s handbags and Foursquare (take it from me, I’m one of them). High end department store Neiman Marcus has managed to combine both of those supremely awesome things in its first ever Foursquare challenge.

This challenge is not your average Foursquare Special – it’s a full on scavenger hunt. Starting on Oct. 1, in conjunction with the Neiman Marcus Shoe & Handbag Event, 15 Nancy Gonzalez clutches will be hidden in secret locations throughout stores. Check in to a Neiman Marcus and the Foursquare Special will let you know if a clutch is nearby and where to look for it. If you find the clutch, you get to keep it.

Not everyone enjoys the thrill of searching through a department store for the right pair of shoes or perfect fitting pants, let alone stealthily hidden, limited merchandise. If you’re not up to the challenge or your store doesn’t have a clutch in the vicinity, Neiman Marcus is offering all Foursquare users who check-in at one of their 41 stores the chance to win 1 of the 56 Nancy Gonzalez clutches.

Gabrielle de Papp, Neiman Marcus’ vice president of corporate public relations and social media, is hoping that this challenge will encourage customers to interact with the brand on Foursquare and showcase the brand’s fashion accessories. She said:

Foursqure is another example of how Neiman Marcus is reaching both new and loyal customers with mobile and digital communications to create a unique in-store experience. Our hope is to engage with our customers in a fun and stimulating way while showcasing our assortment of fashion accessories.

Neiman Marcus has been utilizing social media to engage their customers for quite some time. In March, they launched a similar challenge on SCVNGR where users had a chance to win a $2,500 shopping spree.
