MT PLEASANT, SC – PhoneDog Media is proud to announce the monthly winners for February 2013 in the Official Smartphone Rankings™ (OSR). At just under one-year-old, the program - an industry first - gathers votes from both readers and experts each week for ranking current smartphones in respective charts.
February saw the Samsung Galaxy Note II holding onto the top spot on both the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice chart, gathering a total of 1,247 votes and 195 expert points. In a close race, the people awarded second place to the BlackBerry Z10, with 929 votes. In second place on the Expert’s Choice chart, the Apple iPhone 5 retained its position with a total of 162 points. While the Galaxy Note II retained the first place spot for the month on the People’s Choice chart, the final two weeks were solid wins for the BlackBerry Z10, a newcomer to the smartphone space.
In third place on both the People’s Choice chart, the Samsung Galaxy S III with 559 total votes, trailing its newer sibling by 688 votes for February. The same iconic device landed in third place on the Expert’s Choice chart, with 132 points. Considering the overall age of the device combined with the fact that the next Galaxy S smartphone is around the corner, a third place win is impressive.
“Samsung’s Galaxy Note II continues to perform admirably, though should current voting trends remain the same, March will be a win for the BlackBerry Z10,” said Aaron Baker, Editor-in-Chief of PhoneDog.
