Moviepilot Offers Movie Recommendations Based On Your Facebook Likes

Moviepilot, a recommendation and discovery service for upcoming movies and TV shows, has been launched with the aim of helping you find the upcoming releases that best match your tastes. The service allows you to connect your Facebook account to receive personalized recommendations.

Moviepilot has more than 4 million fans on Facebook and plays host to one of the largest movie communities in Germany through its existing recommendation portal, Moviepilot.de. The service has gathered data related to word-of-mouth hype around movie releases; social media impact on movie marketing; and taste patterns and preferences of those who attend movie theatres to watch films in their first week of release. By analyzing this data, Moviepilot is able to offer recommendations about future releases, while tracking new movies and TV shows from the first rumor to their eventual release.

You can register for Moviepilot by signing in with your Facebook account. You’ll immediately receive movie recommendations based on your Facebook activity, including your Likes. You can then track future movies and TV shows as news and information about them is revealed. The more you interact with the platform, the more relevant the recommendations will be to you. You can interact with other users by sharing your views on movies and helping films that most people might not know about receive some more attention. You can comment on each piece of news that’s reported about movies you’re following too.

It’s fascinating that Moviepilot will help you track activity surrounding a movie from the very first tidbit of news to its eventual release. Of course, this will help movie studios to market films to fans well in advance of release and long before the first trailer for a movie is revealed. Indeed, Disney, Universal and Paramount have been working with the German-language version of Moviepilot since its launch in 2007, so perhaps those studios will begin to market films on the international version of Moviepilot well in advance of a movie’s release.

Movies ranging from blockbusters like “The Avengers” and “The Amazing Spider-Man” to other anticipated films like the “Arrested Development” movie and survival story “The Grey” are available to subscribe to on Moviepilot. There’s something for just about everyone here.

The service certainly seems interesting and I’ll certainly be using it to track news about films I’m looking forward to. I’ve subscribed to all of the movies I’ve mentioned above, but what films will you be tracking on Moviepilot?
