Ashton Kutcher Teams Up With UberMedia For Twitter Client, A.plus

Ashton Kutcher fans, prepare to be very, very excited. The Twitter-obsessed star has partnered with UberMedia to launch his very own desktop Twitter client called A.plus. The client comes as a free download and has a number of features that will excite both Kutcher fans and Twitter enthusiasts alike.

Kutcher is one of Twitter’s most followed celebrities with nearly 7 million followers at the time of this writing, but why his own Twitter client? You don’t see Lady Gaga, the celebrity who currently has the most followers creating a Twitter app for her fans. She does have her own Gagaville on Farmville, though. Nonetheless Kutcher’s client probably spawned from UberMedia’s desire to capitalize on Kutcher’s success and Kutcher’s desire to make sure his beloved fans don’t miss a single tweet. With only a few tweets a day, they’re bound to get muddled in the depths of someone’s feed. Not anymore!

Kutcher isn’t the first celebrity to work with UberMedia. In April they released a custom 50 Cent theme for UberSocial for Blackberry. However, the handsome actor who got his start on That ’70s Show has his own app. That’s so much more than just a theme.

The client features 3 different panels. In the center is your regular Twitter feed that includes @ replies, direct messages, favorites, lists and saved searches. However, the left side is home to various channels that were specifically curated by Kutcher. The very first showcases all of Kutcher’s favorite Twitter feeds: Demi Moore‘s (his wife), the DNA Foundation‘s (his charity), Katalist’s (Kutcher’s film company) and his own account.

The most unique part of this desktop app is probably the RSS-like feed on the right side. Without it, there’s almost no reason someone who wasn’t a fan of Kutcher would download this, but the feed allows users to navigate seamlessly through various links and beat slow load times of opening new tabs. Instead of opening links in a new window, once a user clicks on a tweet, the links it contains are opened on the right side of the screen. This previews all the link’s content, including playing YouTube videos.

The client also offers a few other features that are useful. It immediately alerts you when you have an incoming tweet by displaying a notification pop-up on the side of your computer screen, even if the app is minimized. The app has the unique ability to shorten tweets to “text speak” if they are too long meaning you can turn “you” into “u” instantly if you find yourself running out of characters. In addition, you can perform all of Twitter’s basic functions like deleting tweets, creating lists and retweeting users.

The app is completely free and you can download it by visiting A.plus website.
