The Game Tweets LA Sheriff’s Office Phone Number, Station Flooded With Calls

How cool would it be to intern for the Game? Probably pretty awesome — or at least that’s what the rapper’s over 580,000 followers thought when the infamous Charles Louboutin tweeted a phone number saying he was in search of some extra help. Unfortunately for Louboutin, the number belonged to the LA Sheriff’s Office at Compton, and his tweet caused the phone lines to get jammed for at least 2 hours while users called in search of a position.

On Friday evening, the Game began a Twitter exchange with another user joking about offering internships.

Call @ for internship....... Lol he answering all bws phones today

This lead to a conversation where personal phone numbers were shared as well as a few curse words. The Game tweeted the telephone number for the sheriff’s office and asked users to call for an internship. So many users actually called that the police had to bring in extra deputies to handle all of the phone traffic. Needless to say, the department wasn’t happy.

After tracking down the Game’s tweet as the source for the extra phone traffic, Sheriff Capt. Mike Parker tweeted at the rapper asking him to remove the tweet.

@ U Tweeted phone# of #LASD #Compton Sheriff & said 2 call 4 internship when there is none. Lg.vol.calls R compromising publicsafety

The Game did eventually remove the tweet, and the sheriff’s office says that each phone call could lead to a charge. However, it’s still uncertain if Louboutin actually was the one who posted the tweet in the first place. He didn’t immediately respond to Parker’s tweet and he tweeted at the Los Angeles Times saying “it wasn’t me (shaggy voice)” after they ran a story on the internship call.

As innocent as he might like us to believe he is, the Game does seem guilty. He alluded to the fact that his account was hacked, but later tweeted, “Yall can track a tweet down but cant solve murders ! Dat was an accident but maybe now yall can actually do yall job !!!! #iSpeak4ThePeople.” So what was it: an accident or a hacker?

As a result of the poorly thought out tweet, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials have opened up a criminal investigation on the rapper.

The Game is not the only celeb to run into trouble after using the microblogging service. Tennessee Titans receiver Kenny Britt claimed his Facebook account was hacked after statements were posted cursing out NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and rapper Soulja Boy also allegedly fell victim to hackers when homophobic remarks were posted on his Facebook Page.
