Skype Adds Deeper Facebook Integration, Includes Chat, Likes And Comments

Skype for Windows has been updated to include much deeper Facebook integration, with features such as Facebook chat, Likes and comments being added.

In addition to Facebook chat and being able to Like and comment on a friend’s status from the News Feed, you will be able to view all of your Facebook friends in a Facebook contacts tab.

Skype for Windows 5.5 Beta also includes a new call control toolbar, improvements to saving numbers in the Call Phones section and user interface improvements for placing a call on hold.

Skype for Windows already let you access your Facebook News Feed and gave you the ability to call or send SMS messages to your Facebook contacts, as long as those friends had added their phone numbers to their Facebook profile.

The latest updates will likely bring new rumors of Skype launching a Facebook app. Facebook has close ties to Microsoft (for instance, Facebook is used to personalize Bing search results) and given the fact that Skype was acquired by Microsoft last month in $8.5 billion deal, I would not be surprised if Skype video chat soon comes to Facebook.

You can download the new beta version of Skype for Windows now.
