WARNING: ‘Get A Free Tickets to Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2!’ Scam Targets Facebook Users

It seems that scammers and “Twilight” are never too far away from each other as yet another scam related to the movie series is spreading on Facebook.

Back in April, a scam app claimed to be a game based on “Twilight: Breaking Dawn.” This time round, the scam claims to offer free tickets to see “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2.” If you see a message that looks like this in your News Feed, you should not click on it as it will take you to the scam website:

If the atrocious grammar error in the scam link wasn’t enough of a warning flag, the film is not out until November 2012 so the fact that tickets are apparently being given away 15 months in advance is a little odd.

If you do happen to click on the link, you will be taken to a website which looks like this:

The page features a survey and after answering all of the questions you are asked to enter your email address. There is a lot of fine print at the bottom of the page which says that you must complete reward offers in order to be eligible for the free tickets (which are not actually free, since you will have to pay for many of these reward offers).

The scammers are also looking to obtain your personal information. In addition to your email address, you are asked for your name, postal address, phone number and date of birth. You may also be asked to share the scam link with your Facebook friends. Providing all this personal information could be disastrous.

We suggest that you do not complete any surveys that prompt you to complete them in order to unlock content or get free stuff. In this case, the scammers may use your personal information in identity theft or to spam you.
