LinkedIn Launches Company Status Updates

LinkedIn has rolled out a new feature that allows companies to update their status and share content such as the latest news about their businesses, employee moves and job opportunities with their followers.

If you are following specific companies, you will start seeing updates that are shared by those companies in your feed. This will help you keep up to date with all the latest activity at that company. You can comment on and like those updates, while you can share them with your network of connections. If you are not following a company, you can still see their status updates from the Overview tab on the company page.

If you are the assigned administrator for a company, you’ll be able to share the latest news on the company through the “share an update” box on the company page’s Overview tab. Status updates can be up to 500 characters in length and you can add URLs with multimedia as well.

With around half of LinkedIn’s more than 120 million members are following company pages, this is a great way for companies to stay engaged with people who are interested in their firms. There are more than 2 million company pages on LinkedIn, so companies might have to put some thought into their updates to make them stand out, but it’s an interesting feature which should increase engagement between users and companies.
