SoundHound Hits 50 Million iOS And Android Users, Facilitates 4M+ Daily Searches

Music recognition platform SoundHound has revealed some interesting usage statistics. The company now facilitates more than 4 million music searches per day with more than 1,000 hits per second at peak times. The service also has 50 million users on the iOS and Android platforms — it is also available on Nokia devices.

In the 30 days to Oct. 20, SoundHound saw between 25 million and
35 million hits every day, with peak traffic reaching 2 million hits per hour. These stats mark a tenfold increase in usage since 2010.

“This first peek at our usage metrics reveals some impressive numbers, but the story behind the numbers is just as big a deal,” said SoundHound CEO Keyvan Mohajer. “Our user experience is clearly so compelling and delightful that our users just can’t get enough of it. The fact that they keep coming back in such numbers speaks volumes about the value of the new features we have added.

Earlier this month, SoundHound launched the latest version of its iOS app, which integrates with Apple‘s iCloud feature to provide automatic syncing of your music identification and search history for all your iOS 5 devices. The app also provides a full-screen display of song lyrics that move at the same time as the music, while it has new settings, sharing options and Facebook and Twitter icons that make it easier for you to connect with your favorite artists. Back in August, SoundHound integrated with Spotify to let you play tracks as you discover them.
